  • Does Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) Treatment hurt?
Patients may experience some mild discomfort during the bone marrow extraction and injection, but these sensations are generally well-managed. Local anesthetics and Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas) are available to ensure a more comfortable experience.
  • How long does it take to see results from Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) Treatment?
Results vary depending on the area treated and the individual’s overall health. Some patients begin to notice improvement within weeks, while others may take several months as the body’s natural healing process takes time to work effectively.
  • What is Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) Treatment?
Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) Treatment is a regenerative therapy that utilizes stem cells, growth factors, and proteins found in your bone marrow to promote tissue repair and healing. Bone marrow contains biologically active components that play a crucial role in maintaining health. These components are concentrated into an injectable solution and administered to help restore function and reduce pain.
  • Are there any side effects to Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) Treatment?
Because the therapy uses cells from your own body, the risk of adverse reactions is low. However, you may experience temporary discomfort or swelling at the injection site. As with any medical procedure, there are potential risks, which will be discussed during your consultation.
  • Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) Treatment vs. Cortisone Shots:
While cortisone shots provide temporary pain relief by reducing inflammation, Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) Treatment promotes long-term healing and tissue regeneration. This therapy addresses the underlying cause of pain rather than just masking symptoms, making it a more durable solution for many conditions.
  • How does Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) Treatment work?
Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) Treatment involves extracting a small amount of bone marrow, typically from the hip bone, using a minimally invasive procedure. The bone marrow is processed to concentrate the biologically active components, including stem cells, growth factors, and cytokines. This solution is then precisely injected into the affected area using ultrasound or X-ray guidance to support the body’s natural healing processes and promote tissue regeneration.
  • Am I a candidate for Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) Treatment?
If you are dealing with joint pain, osteoarthritis, or chronic tendon injuries and other treatments have been unsuccessful, Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) Treatment may be an option for you. Patients seeking to avoid invasive surgery, cortisone injections, or long-term use of pain medications are often good candidates. A consultation with our specialists can determine whether this therapy is suitable for your condition.
  • Where is Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) Treatment used?
Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) Treatment can be applied to many areas of the body, including joints, tendons, ligaments, and muscles. It is commonly used to treat injuries and conditions in the neck, back, shoulder, hip, knee, and other regions.
  • How long does a treatment usually take?
A typical Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) Treatment session takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. This includes the extraction of bone marrow, processing to concentrate the therapeutic components, and the injection procedure. The time may vary depending on the number of areas being treated and the complexity of the condition. Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas) may be offered to reduce anxiety and minimize the need for local anesthetics.
  • Will I require someone to drive me home after the treatment?
Depending on the treatment area and extent of the procedure, it is often recommended to have someone drive you home, especially if sedation or Nitrous Oxide was used during the procedure.
  • Is there anyone in the office who is bilingual?
Yes, both English and Spanish are spoken in our office.

  • How does PRP work?
PRP contains over 1500 proteins called growth factors, which may aid in healing and inflammation of soft tissue injuries and arthritis. After drawing your blood, unwanted white and red blood cells are removed, concentrating platelets and plasma. This purified plasma solution is precisely injected to potentially trigger the body’s natural healing process.
  • How long does it take to recover from PRP injections?
There is minimal downtime associated with PRP injections, and most people can expect to return to daily activities shortly following their procedure. It's common to experience mild tenderness at the injection site, which is normal and typically resolves within a few days. The recovery time necessary before returning to strenuous use of the treated area will depend on the region treated and the extent of the injury. Oftentimes, because PRP is a natural therapy, the body will provide patients with true feedback regarding when to advance specific activities.
  • Am I a candidate for PRP injections?
If you are experiencing joint pain, osteoarthritis, or chronic tendon pain, you should learn more about PRP treatments. If physical therapy has failed to bring adequate relief, or you prefer to avoid cortisone and pain medications; you may be a candidate for PRP injections. A consultation with our team of physicians will explain whether PRP injections could be an effective treatment for you.
  • How long does it take to see results from PRP injections?
Depending on the injection site and the overall health of the individual it may take several weeks of optimal results as the body takes time to heal naturally. Injections into joints or muscles tend to exhibit signs of healing faster than tendons which have less circulation.
  • Where is PRP used?
PRP can be used in most areas of the body to help potentially accelerate healing and reduce pain. PRP is frequently injected directly into involved joints, muscle, tendons, ligaments, and nerves.
  • Do PRP injections hurt?
This varies for every individual and the injection site. Some mild discomfort or tenderness at the injection site is normal and typically subsides within a few days. To minimize discomfort during the injection process, we offer local anesthetics.
  • How long does a treatment usually take?
Typical treatment takes an around 30-minutes. The time includes the drawing of blood and separating the platelets as well as the administration of any local anesthetics and the injections.
  • Are there any side effects to PRP injections?
As the injection contains your own blood platelets it is unlikely that you will experience adverse reactions. There may be temporary discomfort associated with the injection sites as well as some pain or inflammation for the first few days. As with many medical procedures there are associated risks which should be discussed with your physician prior to undergoing treatment.
  • What are PRP injections?
PRP stands for “platelet rich plasma.” Platelets are the body’s natural wound healers, found in the blood’s plasma, along with red and white blood cells. Platelets contain proteins called growth factors. These proteins play a key role in the healing process. With this treatment your body’s own platelets are concentrated into an injectable solution to trigger the natural reparative process.
  • PRP VS. Cortisone Shots
Both PRP therapy and cortisone shots address joint pain and inflammation but work differently. Cortisone provides quick, temporary relief by reducing inflammation, though repeated use may weaken tissues. PRP uses your own platelets to promote healing and regeneration, offering longer-lasting benefits. While cortisone is ideal for short-term relief, PRP supports long-term recovery and joint health. Our team can help determine which treatment best suits your needs.
  • Will I require someone to drive me home after the treatment?
No, you won’t need someone to drive you home. Depending on the area being treated and the extent of the treatment, most patients can safely drive themselves.
