  • Warmth or inflammation around the joint

  • Swelling or tenderness

  • Reduced flexibility or range of motion

Rockwall Regenerative Medicine Elbow Pain

As with other joints in the body, the elbow joint can be affected by a range of diseases and injuries, leading to pain, swelling, and various other discomforts. Some of the most common causes we see include:

ELBOW PAIN: COMMON CONDITIONS

Elbow Pain – Damage to bones, tendons, or ligaments in the elbow can cause pain and limit movement.

Bursitis – Inflammation of the bursa, a fluid-filled sac in the elbow, leads to pain and swelling, often from repetitive motions or injury.

Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis) – Repetitive forearm use causes tendon inflammation and microtears in the outer elbow, resulting in pain, commonly in activities like tennis or typing.

Golfer’s Elbow (Medial Epicondylitis) – This condition, caused by repeated forearm muscle contractions, leads to pain and inflammation on the inner elbow, similar to tennis elbow.

Elbow Instability – Weak ligaments or structural damage can cause the elbow to slide out of alignment, leading to instability and pain.

Osteoarthritis – Degeneration of cartilage in the elbow joint over time can result in pain, stiffness, and swelling, especially during activity.

Lateral Ulnar Collateral Ligament (LUCL) Injuries – Damage to the Lateral Ulnar Collateral Ligament (LUCL) can cause instability or weakness in the elbow joint.

Ulnar Collateral Ligament (UCL) Injuries – Injuries to the Ulnar Collateral Ligament (UCL) can result in pain and decreased function, particularly for athletes involved in overhead motions.
